I have been asking some of the rangers at the local nature preserve if they could recommend any places where I might find wildflowers. One of them recommended a nearby wildlife refuge, where there is a grassland restoration project underway. Three miles down a sketchy dirt road, I arrived to find the grasslands completely fenced off, with a ridiculous number of signs warning not to pass the fences. No wildflower photography here! I didn't even see many birds.
But....:) About halfway down the dirt road I came across this happy little farm, with fields of peacocks, donkeys, a goat, and one very cool farm dog! That's what I love about dirt roads; you never know what you'll find at the end, and it's almost always something good:)
